Alternative Therapies for Cancer

There are several types of cancer, ranging from skin cancer to lung cancer, breast and testicular cancer, and there are also many ways to treat cancer. Conventional wisdom is that once diagnosed, there is no ‘cure’ for cancer.

When treated, for as long as the cancer is not active, the patient is considered to be ‘in remission’. Constant attention to lifestyle, preventative actions and diagnostic markers are a ‘rest of life’ requirement, to prevent a recurrence. Some doctors may pronounce patients ‘cancer-free’ after a specified remission period, often five years.

The type of treatment an individual suffering from cancer receives will heavily depend on 2 factors:

1. What type of cancer he or she is afflicted with, and

2. How advanced the cancer has become.

Conventional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and different kinds of surgery are well-known methods for treating, and sometimes totally removing, cancer from the human body.

Symptoms from these traditional and effective treatment methods are often excruciatingly painful and debilitating. For these and other reasons, many patients and carers have been searching for alternative ways to treat cancer.

Note: In every case, it is wise to consult your doctor or some other trained medical professional you trust before partaking in any alternative treatments.

The Gerson Therapy

Like many health conditions, cancer has been treated naturally. One way to naturally combat cancer is with the Gerson therapy, named after Dr. Max Gerson, an American doctor who developed this treatment over a century ago.

This natural therapy involves following a specific diet that includes mostly organic fruits, vegetables and sprouted grains. Juicing and regular detoxification are recommended, along with the intake of supplements such as vitamin B12.

The combination of these steps gives the immune system a boost. It makes the body’s natural healing system stronger, so it is better able to attack and neutralize the tissue that has been affected by the cancer. This process also helps flush out remaining toxins and poisons from the body.

Using Certain Oils to Beat Cancer

Another remedy is the Budwig Protocol, which was developed by Dr. Johanna Budwig in 1952. She was an expert on lipids and pharmacology, and specialized in using fats and oils for healing.

In her method, she claims that if you replace processed fats and oils in your body with unsaturated and saturated fatty acids, your cells will be able to rebuild at a naturally healthy rate.

Eating foods such as cottage cheese, flaxseeds and flaxseed oil has been shown to be one successful cancer-fighting way to apply this method.

Enzyme Therapy

Proteolytic enzyme therapy works to balance both the sympathetic and autonomic nervous systems. Your sympathetic nervous system is related to your "fight or flight" response to stress or perceived danger.

The autonomic nervous system, also called the "rest and digest" system, handles slower bodily functions that promote steady, long-term health.

In the 1980s, New York doctor Nicholas J. Gonzalez determined that particular diet plans should be prescribed for people who suffer from different forms of cancer.

For example, if you suffer from lung, pancreas, colon, prostate or uterine cancer, a plant-based diet would prove successful in reducing symptoms.

He also showed that when those who suffer from leukemia, myeloma or lymphoma cancers are put on a high-protein and high-fat diet that is rich in meat and minerals, their condition improves.

This is because those foods deliver high levels of enzymes effective in treating certain cancers. Accordingly, doctors following his teachings recommend that taking 5 grams of proteolytic enzymes 3 times a day. Supplements should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably between meals, in order to reduce inflammation related to the cancer.
